Lost Souls 03:25
We face the world half-grown Take up the wrong dream in our hands None of our moods, traits or talents match that plan Step beyond step Beyond stumbles beyond falls We progress then we stall And we learn some days Scar beyond scar Beyond failure, beyond all We ascend then we crawl As we drift away Dream the unattainable Dream the unattainable (Someday…) Our voices can’t reach all the notes for us Too often, our crushes don’t notice us Our poetic gifts are superfluous Lost souls, who holds a hope for us? Our dreams don’t fit our damages Our hearts don’t match their packages Broken dancing, still advancing Our truth is where the balance is Lyrics © Steve Parker, 2022

Wake up! Good morning Yeah, the planet’s turned once more Breathe a moment’s peace, we've been released From the mess that went before Stretch out! We’re rising From the smoke of battles past Right to this spot, like it or not Fresh days are coming fast Go grab ‘em, let ‘em in, cos each one's getting better Rise when each day begins, cos each one's getting better Take what time has shown you Never let that moment own you Our journey never ends, and each one’s getting better. Get up! Do something When Apollo hits the sky Here’s a fresh new date to change your fate All we gotta do is try Cheer up! We’re moving Out of darkness and dismay Twelve hours of possibilities Are rolling down our way Go grab ‘em, let ‘em in, cos each one's getting better Rise when each day begins, cos each one's getting better Grief and disappointment Lift yourself beyond that moment Claim every day to win, cos each one’s getting better All we need is healing time These days are yours and mine Grow beyond / So we're going on Grow beyond / Yeah, we’re going on Heads up! Hold on now, As the sun comes sweeping through While the days dawns bright, we’ll take the fight To every stuck up thing we want to, yeah yeah Go grab ‘em, let ‘em in, cos each one's getting better Claim every day to win, cos each one’s getting better. Rise when each day begins, cos each one's getting better Our journey never ends, and each one’s getting better. Own your life And claim your day Lyrics © Steve Parker, 2022

I've gotta say it – who needs love? I'm wondering if I'm empty of That rough emotion, now that I'm Rebuilding what it broke last time It's overrated – who needs love? It’s run its course, I’ve had enough It's never worth it – I shoulda known It's safer now to live alone When you got it you can’t get around it When you lose it you’re sorry you found it Stuck without it you covet and crave it Stop and save the fall But when it shines I can forget, somehow Yeah, who needs some loving now? I'm devastated – who needs love? Too far to fall from up above It's temporary, edged with pain Remind me when I fall again When you got it you can’t get around it When you lose it you’re sorry you found it Stuck without it you covet and crave it Who can brave it now? But when she smiles it’s like the sun comes out Yeah, who needs some loving now? And when it shines I can forget, somehow Yeah, who needs some loving now? Lyrics © Steve Parker, 2022

Sails Up 05:21
So many times you struggled and stole; through the deepest grey Too many times lined up on your goal to have it snatched away But all your dedication and drive; kept you in the game Bringing your bright ambition alive, and now they know your name One bad day can chase another Lucky you’re learning fast Wiser and stronger for the past Your chance is here at last, so... Sails up! You got the wind now Your cause is bound to win, now You’re past the pack and running clear Trust in the choice you’re making That quest you’re undertaking Seize every moment, never fear You’ll hit the heights I’m hoping This door is always open When friendly breezes draw you near Over achiever, steady believer Ready to leave, for places strange Late realising, destiny rising Normal horizons rearranged Closing the front door, people you care for Leaving the world forever changed Tell your tale, set your sail Glide away And if your past connection to home has you torn in two Rest assured, wherever you roam, we’ll still be here for you One success can build another Now that you’ve come this far Stand tall and show ‘em who you are You’re up – a rising star, so... Sails up! You got the wind now Your cause is bound to win, now You’re past the pack and running clear Trust in the choice you’re making That quest you’re undertaking Seize every moment, never fear You’ll hit the heights I’m hoping This door is always open When friendly breezes draw you near Lyrics © Steve Parker, 2022

about

2023's "Each One's Getting Better" EP is a collection of four songs that reflect on the past year, each with its own unique instrumentation and mood. On the opening track, "Lost Souls," Steve sings, "Our dreams don't fit our damages," a poignant reminder of the gap between our ambitions and our capabilities. The title track, "Each One's Getting Better," follows with a rousing call to action in the face of adversity, aglow with sunny optimism. "Who Needs Love?" comes next, its muted tones steeped in a cynicism that ultimately gives way to hope. Finally, the EP closes with the buoyant "Sail's Up," a song of encouragement and celebration for a friend on their own journey to success.
